The wolf may be misunderstood by some to be lonesome creatures, but really they are pack animals loyal to their tribe. They teach about the balance between independence and community. They are able to form strong bonds to their community while also being ok by themselves. As addicts, a lot of us struggle with over dependency and also isolation. It is important that we are able to be ok being alone, but not in an isolating way. This is the healthy distinction between solitude and destructive isolation behavior. Finding a community of people stable in their recovery where there is an equal give and take between learning from each other and helping each other is vital.
